#239 dunkeld

16 mile Dunkeld ride today back in before the rain came on. House, Caputh, Loch of the Lowes, Dunkeld, Caputh and home. Nice couple of climbs and a good decent. Might become a regular instead of the flatter Kinclaven Bridge, Balathie House route.

#234 done

Team Adventure Zone Scotland made it through the 620km Adidas Terrex Adventure Race. That was one crazy looking event. Real proud of the team. I'm sure Phil will post some images and an event report on his blog after he sleeps for a couple of days.
I saw them this morning at 9am passing Caputh Bridge. They were looking ok then and I'm sure feeling as though they were almost home, even though they still had a 55km bike ride from Perth to Stirling to do. Not sure what I'll do now I can't track them. That sounds wrong.
Some pics here from the official website.

#233 big glenshee to little glenshee

Day off today so off out on the bike from the house. I was up in Glenshee yesterday so I cycled to little Glenshee today. It is 10mile ride from the house. Little Glenshee over to the Braan is 4.5miles. Down Strath Braan and round the back of Birnam Hill and home. 20+miles or so. GPS batteries ran out so not sure what miles it was.

#232 hunting for team adventure zone

Spent the morning trying to track down Adventure Zone Scotland Team on the Terrex. They started off at Marble Lodge near Braemar and headed to Ballater before heading up Glen Muick to the Transition for the mountain trail walk. I spent an hour or so cycling up and down tracks trying to find them every so often checking their progress on my phone through their tracker. I didn't always have signal so I missed them by what must have been 5mins.
I eventually caught up with the up Glen Muick. I said hello then drove on up a bit before jumping on my bike and meeting up with them. I then rode the last 3 or 4 miles to the transition. Being very careful not to give them any assistance in terms of pacing, food or water. This could cause them penalties as they are not allowed any outside help.
They were in good spirits and had had no major issues. Apart from lack of sleep.
I hung around the transition until they set off at 2.45pm for the hike up Lochnagar. As I write this the tracker is showing them past Lochnagar but still right in the mountains.

#231 terrex

My good friend Phil Robinson is competing in the adidas terrex this week. Something like 620km of Mountain Biking, Trail Running, Canyoning and Canoeing over 5 days of Racing. So proud of his effort to train and prepare for it. You can track team 36 Adventure Zone Scotland here. They are doing well today so far. The image below was taken on the River Tay today between Aberfeldy and Grandtully. Hopefully a strong section for this team as Phil knows it well.

Right now it seems they are still at Bruar for the Canyoning section run by Nae Limits. I think they have been short coursed by the details on the site. On speaking with Phil late last week he was expecting this so still on track. Check out the website and see what they are up against and think when you think you are tired over the next 3 days these guys will still be racing!

I'm off tomorrow and I'm going to try and see where they have got to and maybe try and meet them at a transition or on course if I can.

Good Luck Phil and team!

#228 weather?

After a shakey start it was a shorts day today! Was really quite warm although not as hot as the 32 degrees they saw in Essex! Well you would have to be in England to get that. I'd rather be colder. :)

#223 olympics are finished

What do we watch on the tv now? It has been a good couple of weeks of tv. Best medal hall for many years for Team GB, good job. Hopefully it will continue and sport will get better recognition.

#222 ride out

Few hours to get away today. Had a wee blast on the bike. Headed to Dunkeld, up Strath Braan and up over the Sma Glen to Kenmore. Along Loch Tay to Lawers then hang a right up to Ben Lawers and Lawers Dam. Who took the Visitor's Centre away and when did that happen? Down the other side to Bridge of Balgie. Amazing weather there. Down Glen Lyon to Fortingale and onto Aberfeldy. Onwards and upwards again towards Griffin Forest. The weather started to come in but no rain. Back down Strath Braan and home. Awesome ride out and up a couple of wee tracks on the way. A real fitting way to celebrate Dad's birthday! Happy Birthday Dad.

#220 landrover day

Spent the sunny day today fixing Landrovers. The 90 has been needing a new starter for some time now and had got a second hand one for 20quid a few weeks ago so had fun fitting that today. Batteries were flat too so hooked them up to a charger and hey presto off it went. No plans to MOT or tax it but nice to know you can just start it off the key now. Also been meaning to wire brush the brake drums on the Freelander and paint them up a bit so got that done too. Had some black hamerite in the garage. Grand total spent today is £0.00 nice.

Go Sir Chris! What a showing at the Olympics this year.

Enjoyed the track cycling last night and loved the news today saying that GP's and A&E are expecting more injuries due to people trying to copy Olympic Athletes! Brilliant!

#216 mot time

Freelander fail! Hate this time of year with a car. This is the first MOT I have put the Freelander through since I have owned it so I was suspecting something. Just could have come at a better time.

on the plus side Lexie took her first unaided steps today. Go Lex.

2 of my push bikes are looking very good today. Might be selling my blue NRS tomorrow. Needs must.
The revamped Kona Lava Dome is not going anywhere. I've had that too long to sell it.
