Found a book on the shelf at work today. The Paddling Chef. mmmmm. I've always struggled with getting good food when I go camping, maybe this will inspire.

#269 river

Two days in a row on the water. What's that all about? River Tay Dunkeld to Caputh this morning. Awesome Autumn day today. Sunny but a bit windy, thankfully going in the right direction. Lots of fisherman and they were all very polite apart from one who I swear still hasn't seen me! Ah well.
Two hours on the water including a stop for a brew. Very nice.

#268 island

Went out for a wee paddle this afternoon. Went to little Loch of Clunie less than 10miles from the house.
There is a wee island on the Loch where I had my lunch and tried a spot of fishing.
On the island (formerly a crannog) in the loch stand the remains of Clunie Castle, a tower house of the Bishops of Dunkeld. The last pre-Reformation bishop, Robert Crichton, passed the property to his near relative, Robert Crichton, Lord Advocate of Scotland. His son James, the notable Scottish polymath better known as the Admirable Crichton, spent his childhood there.
There you go a bit of wiki history for you.

oh and here are some pics.

#266 floods

Lots of flooding in the UK but yet again Perth seems immune to any crazy weather. Wet and windy here but no more than any other usual September.

Pity there was none of this!

 or this.

These pics were taken a few years back but reminders of good times on the play wave just 10mins from our house!

#264 customers

I know I know the customer is always right, but for just a few cases can we disagree with that?

I'm not sure whether it is these tough economic times or what, but customers are getting worse, they seem to think they are allowed to abuse you! It is not always our fault that a supplier can't get an item too us and no you do not deserve compensation of more that half the amount of the cost of the product you are buying!

We do not have to sell anything to you that we do not want to and we do not have to discount!

rant over.

#263 pain

Back pain is the worst. It slows you down. Some days you think you are getting better then the next day it bites you. Today was one of those days. Sore from when I got up.
Was funny seeing Lizzie dancing like a ballerina from her bath to bed though. That made my day.

#258 recovery

So it was a long weekend working for Flair Event Staffing. We got back late last night, I drove the last hour after Paul just about fell asleep at the wheel.
I got involved with some of the event management on the Sunday which was good to see the inner workings of the Coast to Coast event. Closing the course and making sure the competitors are safe and still having fun.
It was however a long weekend with only about 5hrs sleep on both Friday and Saturday night. I am probably not as tired as some of the competitors.
Thanks Paul for the opportunity to get involved.

#256 coast to coast

Day one done. Set up from 5.30am ish and I ended up at a bridge marshalling for a bit then I ended up at the kayak section. Kitting people up and sending them off on a 1mile paddle.
Fun day watching tired racers battling with the wind most of the day.

#255 coast to coast

Just about to leave to go to the Coast to Coast event from Nairn to Glencoe. I'm not competing before you ask. I'm going to help my mate Paul who's company provides the marshals for the event. Last year I was there as support driver for Phil who is not competing this year, so it'll be good to see it from another angle.
We'll see what the weekend brings. Stay tuned.

Most of today was spent skipping rubbish. It was strange throwing out some from my childhood but it needed to be done.

#253 escape

Getting away from the building works today. 25 mile ride from the house. Dodging the rain cloud I managed to circle round it for the hour and forty minute ride. Got a bit of drafting from a digger up one of the last hills letting me stay at 19 mph up the incline.
